We have the skills and experience to provide on-site ecological clerk of works (ECoW) throughout the construction phases on the site. This involves the presence of an ecologist on the site during particularly sensitive construction activities which have the potential to adversely impact on protected or notable habitats or species.
Firstly we would produce a brief Method Statement report summarising the construction activities and the mitigation measures to avoid/ minimise adverse ecological impacts. Measures may include avoiding particular areas of the site, checking vegetation prior to activities commencing and destructive searches of potential refugia such as rubble piles. The Method Statement would be a short report and would be written so it is easy to use by the site manager.
The role of the ecologist on site is to advise on how to avoid/ minimise negative ecological impacts on site and work closely with the site manager to ensure that all measures in the Method Statement report are understood and implemented. Good communication is essential and we have a proven ability to work closely and effectively with site contractors and project managers to achieve successful outcomes on site.
