The Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Methods (BREEAM) and Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) are used to assess the environmental performance of new and existing buildings. We have carried out numerous BREEAM and CSH assessments and provided specialist ecological advice.
Udall-Martin Associates carry out site surveys (Phase-1 and Phase-2 ecological surveys) and produce ecology reports necessary to inform the ‘Land Use and Ecology’ sections for BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments. We satisfy the conditions for ‘Suitably Qualified Ecologist’ as defined by the guidelines. Working with our clients we aim to promote biodiversity and realistic ecological enhancements and have worked on a variety of development projects, including education, fire stations, housing and retail. For each specific type of project we use the appropriate BREEAM/ CSH technical manual, including the BREEAM Bespoke 2008 Guidance for fire stations, BREEAM New Construction 2011 Guidance and CSH Technical Guide 2010.
Our ecology reports provide details and recommendations for the individual credit requirements under the ‘Land Use and Ecology’ section, as follows:

- Ecological value of site and protection of ecological features.
- Mitigating ecological impact.
- Enhancing site ecology (including site management plans).
- Long-term impact on biodiversity.
