Myotis Daubentonii & Plecotus Auritus Bat Surveys

2012 is the year of the Bat for Udall-Martin Associates!

Despite the continuing poor weather the Bat Surveys continue to come thick and fast in a professional, educational and voluntary capacity for the staff of Udall-Martin Associates.  Some recent bat surveys have thrown up some good number of bats with several maternity roosts of Brown long-eared (Plecotus auritus) and Daubenton’s bat (Myotis daubentonii) surveyed, the largest being a Brown Long-Eared roost that had 63 individuals emerge from the roost.

We are currently producing a number of European Protected Species Mitigation Licence applications for Common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) and Soprano pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus) bats, this includes designing proportionate mitigation and compensation measures to ensure the long term maintenance of the populations on the sites.
