Ecological Enhancement Strategy at Newman College in Birmingham

ecological enhancement strategy for a college in birmingham

We produced an ecological enhancement strategy for Newman College, Birmingham. We carried out an initial Extended Phase-1 habitat survey of the entire college grounds, desk study, produced an ecological assessment report for the planning application and produced a BREEAM Land Use and Ecology report.

The ecological survey and desk study also informed the ecological enhancement strategy, which recommended grassland diversification, species-rich hedgerow planting, tree planting, wildlife pond creation and bat roosting boxes and bird nesting boxes.

The strategy also included detailed management prescriptions for the existing, enhanced and created habitats on the site.

Work conducted for a landscape consultancy in 2011.
