Maternity Roosts

Bats

Udall-Martin Associates find themselves in a very fortunate position in that we have a long established brown long-eared bat (Plecotus auritus) maternity roost above the office, we monitor this as well as a very close by soprano pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus) roost as part of the National Bat Monitoring Programme.

The latest count had 18 brown long-eared bats emerge from 4 different exit points and over 100 soprano pipistrelles emerged from their roost. During the surveys we have also recorded lesser horseshoe (Rhinolophus hipposideros), noctule (Nyctalus noctula), leisler’s (Nyctalus leisleri), serotine (Eptesicus serotinus), common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus), whiskered (Myotis mystacinus), brandt’s (Myotis brandti), natterer’s (Myotis nattereri) and barbastelle (Barbastella barbastellus.

Udall-Martin Associates are also currently surveying for bats at many sites throughout the United Kingdom for a variety of clients too. Find out more about our work by clicking here.

Do you require specialist bat surveys?

We have the skills and experience to carry out protected species surveys following standard methodologies.  We and our associates hold Natural England survey licences for many protected species, including bats.  In addition, we hold current European Protected Species mitigation licences (EPS) for bats.
